Improving your performance horsemanship skills inside and outside the arena

Establishing a relationship between you and your horse

Our mission is to train riders and their horses to achieve goals they have only dreamed of. Our passion for horsemanship has been the driving force behind our business. We enjoy watching a rider at a clinic accomplish skills they didn’t believe they could develop. We aim to instill in every rider’s mind that same focus on discipline, respect, and appreciation necessary between a rider and their horse.

Jim Hanson

Jim Hanson, a world renowned horse trainer with over 40 years experience in training performance horses and riders. He has developed signature training methods and tools to improve the horse and rider connection as well as train top notch horses and riders. As a multi-world champion title holder in cowboy mounted shooting, he specializes in horsemanship for the mounted shooter. Horsemanship extends beyond mounted shooting; his horses excel in every aspect of competition. His moto is “not every horse is perfect, but every horse can become a better horse”.

Anyone who’s traveled the mounted shooting circuit is familiar with Jim Hanson. He is one of the most recognized competitors in the game. As a high profile spokesperson for Running Horse Feed, Colt Manufacturing and Myler Bits, he has hauled coat-to-coast spreading the word for the world’s most iconic firearm brand, while at the same time teaching, sharing and spreading enthusiasm for a sport he truly loves.

Ask Jim about his training philosophy, and you’ll get two words - relationships and patience. The two concepts work hand-in-hand.

In perfecting performance, Jim digs down to the deeper skills of horsemanship starting with the basics of warming up your horse all the way through balance and control, turns, rating, lead changes, starts and stops as well as mounted shooting techniques that will make you a better competitor.

Jim also covers the equipment and gear needed to successfully achieve the proper connection with your horse and they teach you some very special techniques for ground tying and getting your horse accustomed to gunfire, obstacles and arena distractions.
